Casper before his operation |
Thank you everyone for all your lovely well wishes, kind thoughts, emails and advice. It means a lot to me and my Mum and Dad. Just to update you, the response we have had from my breeders has been very derisary, I cannot go into details at the moment for legal reasons, but Mum and Dad are not happy with the outcome so a formal letter is going out today and we have been told that we have a good case to be represented in court, so unless anything changes e.g. a better offer, it looks like that is the road we will be going down.
Mum also intends to start a campaign/petition as we feel that breeding puppies with genetical problems must stop here and now, (especially by breeders accredited by The Kennel Club). We do not want to see any more puppies have to suffer with my conditions.
Mum and Dad took all precautions before purchasing little ole' me. I was purchased from a breeder accredited by The Kennel Club and Mum and Dad went all the way to Nottingham to get me to ensure (or so they thought) that they were getting a puppy with no genetical problems. So what went wrong? This is what we need to campaign about, to ensure this does not happen again to anyone else. Mum has been a campaigner for animals for many years, petitioning, standing outside with banners in the rain and so on, no matter what the distance, so she's an old hand at this and she's like a dog with a bone when she feels something is wrong especiallyconcerning animals.
I am feeling much better every day now but it is going to be a long old haul to get me walking properly again. As I said in a previous post I have to have my right knee operated on in around 6 weeks (same as this op), and then there are both hips to be replaced one at a time. Mum says I'm a tough old "Chocolate Pudding" and that she is very proud of me. My vet has said that after all the surgery has been completed I should be able to walk and run like any other dog, so I'm looking forward to that.
I will let you know when my campaign is online so you can pop along and show your support, and have your say if you would like to. I am now on Facebook so I will be adding my badge to my blog soon so that you can visit me there too.
See ya all soon

We'll be here all the time, Casper!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you're making good progress everyday!
We want you to be 100% asap so you can do whatever you want to do, Casper!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Good for you and your mum, Casper! I have never been a breeder but to me, doing your homework, not breeding dogs with mutated genes, is basic. Do people breed for money? Well, they need to breed, if at all, for the good of the breed - and sometimes that means bringing in other breeds to freshen up the lines. You go, Casper mom! And yeah for being so good to Casper - Margie says "thank you" for the birthday wishes and for hanging tough with Casper's breeder.
ReplyDeleteA tough road for sure, Casper, but you have a lot of support from your loving family and all your fans, like us and others. Keep that recovery going - we are all here for you.

Oh Casper I am so very happy that you are healing well with this surgery.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your pawrents though and I hope that the NASTY, Not testing their dogs before breeding breaders get what is coming to them! They should also NEVER be able to breed any animals again!
woos, Tessa
Mom knows some of the breeders are trying hard, and it is an uphill battle.

P.S.: Thanks for visiting me on facebook!
Glad to hear things are going better each day. Hopefully after all of these surgeries you will feel like a brand new dog!
